Dharamkot
Dharamkot is a famous picnic spot located at about 15 kms from Dharamshala, and is located in the town of McLeodganj. It is situated at the top of a hill and is a spot that is mobbed by tourists in the peak seasons. Dharamkot can be reached by simply trekking from Bhagsu. The trek is enjoyable, especially for those who are travelling in a group and enjoy taking a rough road. People visiting Dharamkot could stay at either McLeodganj or Dharamshala depending upon their tour itinerary. Both places offer good hotels at affordable prices, where accommodation is comfortable and relaxing. There are also a number of traditional yoga centers in and around Dharamkot, the most among them being the Himalayan Iyengar Yoga Center established in 1985. Those who have come for a long stay or research activities could get enrolled in the center for meditation lessons, which is what most foreign nationals tend to do.
